Bangladesh trounce World Champion England

Bangladesh made history at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium at Mirpur, Dhaka on Tuesday defeating England by 16 runs in the third T20 international cricket match to make a 3-0 clean sweep of the series. Bangladesh bowlers restricted the England team at 142 for six at the end of 20th over to win the third and final match of the series by 16 runs. Mustafizur Rahman claimed his 100th T20I wicket becoming the fastest Bangladeshi bowler to reach this milestone in his 81st match. Earlier, Shakib Al Hasan had the distinction of being the fastest to reach 100th wicket in T20I in his 84th match. Batting first, Bangladesh made 158 for 2 helped by Litton Das’s sparkling 73 off 57 balls helped by 10 fours and one six.  Najmul Hossain Shanto made an unbeaten 47 off 36 balls. Rony Talukdar scored 24 off 22 balls. 

England made a good beginning with a 95 run partnership off 76 balls for the second wicket  with Dawid Malan and Joss Butler on the crease. The match turned in Bangladesh’s favour with the dismissal of both Malan (53 off 47 balls) and Buttler (40 off 31 balls) on consecutive deliveries. Between the 13th and the 17th over, the England team collapsed from 100 for one to 123 for five. England were left chasing 31 runs off the last two overs but they fell short by 16 runs. For Bangladesh, Taksin Ahmed claimed two wickets for 26 runs.
