Asian Games: Chikitha-Sahil win archery gold after shoot-off thriller

India clinched its second archery gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 on Wednesday as Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav defeated South Korea in a dramatic shoot-off in the compound mixed team event.

The Indian pair were locked at 157-157 against South Korea's Yonghee Choi and Park Jungyoon after the regulation contest, forcing the gold medal to be decided by a shoot-off.
Under intense pressure, Chikitha and Sahil held their nerve to score 20 points, while the South Korean pair managed 19. The narrow victory handed India another gold medal in compound archery.The triumph came on the same day that India's women's compound team of Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Prithika Pradeep defeated China to win gold.The victory also has significance beyond the Asian Games, as India's performance secured a quota place for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
