New Zealand defeated India by seven wickets in the first ODI, at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday. Chasing 307, New Zealand lost some early wickets of Finn Allen, Devon Conway, and Daryl Mitchell. New Zealand raced to 309 for three in 47.1 overs, courtesy of some fine batting from Tom Latham and Kane Williamson. Latham and Williamson smashed 145* and 94* respectively to take their side across the line with 17 balls to spare. Debutant Umran Malik took two wickets for the visitors.

Earlier, Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill brought up their half-centuries to guide Team India to a total of 306/7. Lockie Ferguson and Tim Southee were the pick among the bowlers with their respective three-wicket hauls.
