BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Jyotiraditya Scindia has welcomed the Madhya Pradesh government's decision to name Chambal Progress- Way as 'Atal Bihari Vajpayee Chambal Progress -Way'. He said that by doing so the state has honoured the public sentiments also. He also paid tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Earlier, the Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced the state govt's decision at a function organised at the second death anniversary of former Prime Minister of India and veteran BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Bhopal on Sunday.
The ambitious Chambal ‘Progress –Way’ project covering a distance of 394 km and running through states of MP, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh was duly approved by the Union government also.The four lane highway from Rajasthan border to Morena and Bhind is one of the 22 greenfield highways to be constructed by the union government. Around 1150 hectare land will be required for the project in MP. Of this, around 550 hectare was government land and rest need to be acquired from farmers’
The project is expected to be completed in 2 years after land acquisition. The royalty and tax exemption on the project material will save more than Rs 1000/ cr. The MP government has already exempted royalty on minerals for the project.
