Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has said 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' was not an exercise to project Rahul Gandhi as a prime ministerial candidate for the 2024 general elections. Addressing a press conference in Katnal on Saturday, he said that It is an ideological yatra of which the main face is Rahul Gandhi. It is not one individual's yatra. Ramesh said it is unfair to ask if the opposition party is projecting Gandhi as its prime ministerial face in the 2024 general election. Criticsing the BJP government, Ramesh charged that the Modi led goverment is busy in polarisation, not in governance.

Ramesh said that Rahul Gandhi has raised three big issues during the Bharat Jodo Yatra — economic inequality, social polarization and political authoritarianism. He is raising these issues everyday during his walking interactions, his talking interactions, in his corner speeches, in his rallies.
