Political parties create division, Congress's Ghulam Nabi Azad

Film The Kashmir Files has created ripples in India's politics. Leaders are are giving cautious statements. Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Sunday said “Pakistan and militancy” were responsible for what has happened in Jammu and Kashmir. His comments come amid the ongoing controversy over the recently released film which depicts the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir in the 1990s following systematic killings of people from the community by Pakistan-backed terrorists. “I believe that Mahatma Gandhi was the biggest Hindu and secularist. Pakistan and militancy are responsible for what has happened in Jammu and Kashmir, it has affected all Hindus, Kashmiri Pandits, Kashmiri Muslims, Dogras,” the Congress veteran said in Jammu. Azad further said that political parties, including Congress, create division among people on various grounds, "24x7 on the basis of religion, caste and other things. I'm not forgiving any party, including mine (Congress). Civil society should stay together. Justice must be given to everyone irrespective of caste, religion," he said.Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah questioned the movie and demanded a fresh probe into the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s.

Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana has alleged that ‘The Kashmir Files’ movie was brought to the screen with inspiration from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is using it to win the upcoming assembly elections in Gujarat, Rajasthan and other states. Saamana also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of taking the reins of promoting the movie and questioned the BJP over its failure to resettle Kashmiri Pandits in the valley even after the abrogation of Article 370.

The Kashmir Files team  including director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, and the film’s producer Abhishek Agarwal on Sunday met Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Lucknow.
