No discussion or proposal on merger of NCP factions: Supriya Sule

NCP leader and MP Supriya Sule on Thursday said there has been no discussion or proposal on the two rival Nationalist Congress Party factions coming together. Sule told reporters in Mumbai when asked about the buzz in political circles about the merger of the two NCP factions led by Sharad Pawar and his estranged nephew Ajit Pawar. "You will see us in the (opposition) INDIA alliance meeting in the next few days when it is convened," said the NCP (SP) working president, who is the daughter of party chief Sharad Pawar.The 26th foundation day of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will be held in Pune on June 10. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP head Ajit Pawar will address the event. Sorces said that there are chances that Sharad Pawar is expected to address his faction leaders.
Sule also said that she had requested the Congress to wait until the multi-party delegations returned from abroad before the opposition INDIA bloc demanded a special session of Parliament.In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 16 opposition parties, including the Congress, have demanded that a special session of Parliament be convened to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor and subsequent developments. Sule, who returned after leading a multi-party delegation to Qatar, Ethiopia, Egypt and South Africa, told reporters that she could not sign the letter as she was on a tour representing India.
