Fighting to defend democratic nature of India: Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has said that he does not care even if he gets permanently disqualified from the Lok Sabha as his ‘tapasya’ is to work for the people. Addessing a press conference in New Delhi on Saturday, Gandhi said that the disqualification is not about the 2019 comment, neither about the OBC as the BJP is projecting. I have been disqualified because PM Narendra Modi is scared of my next speech on Adani. I have seen it in his eyes,” Rahul Gandhi said. He also denied the BJP's charges that he had sought the intervention of international forces in the domestic affairs of the country. He said he had asked the Speaker to let him respond on the floor of the House to the allegations over his London remarks. But he didn't allow me," he said.  I will continue to fight for the truth, which has now become my motto,” said the leader.

Taking up the Opposition's demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee Probe into the Adani row a notch higher, he said, "My job is to defend the democratic nature of the country, which means defending the institutions of the country, defending the voice of the poor people of the country and telling people the truth about people like Adani who are exploiting the relationship they have with the PM."
