Exit polls predicted a big majority for the BJP in Gujarat while most of them gave an edge to it in Himachal Pradesh, indicating re-election of the ruling party in both states.However, two exit polls showed a dead heat between the BJP and the Congress in Himachal Pradesh where results could go either way. The counting of votes in both states will take place on December 8. Elections for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly took place on November 12, while polling in Gujarat happened in two phases on December 1 and 5.The majority of polls have predicted the second consecutive term in Himachal Pradesh. However, India Today-Axis My India has predicted a neck-to-neck fight in Himachal Pradesh.
The Republic-P Marq survey has given the BJP between 128 and 148 seats, the Congress between 30 and 42, and fewer than 10 seats to the AAP. The TV9 Bharatvarsh survey gives the BJP a similar score - 125 to 130 seats. The Congress does slightly better here - 40-50 seats - but the AAP does worse and is expected to get less than five seats.
Exit poll data for the Delhi civic election has also been released and there is better news for the AAP; Kejriwal's outfit is expected to win comfortably. The BJP - which won in 2017 - is second and the Congress is almost eliminated. The results of the Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh elections will be announced on Thursday. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) election results will come out a day before.Gujarat has 182 seats and the majority mark is set at 92. There are 68 seats in Himachal and the majority mark is 35. There are 250 seats in Delhi.
