The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has outrun the Congress in the Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad election held in 21 districts of Rajasthan. According to latest information, Panchayat Samiti elections results for 4371 constituencies based in 222 samitis have been announced so far. Out of that, BJP has won in 1911 constituencies, Congress has won in 1781 constituencies, Independents have won in 425 and RLP has won in 57 constituencies.
Rajasthan BJP president Satish Poonia said, "The results of the Panchayati Raj election are a definite indication of this corrupt government being sent away. Showing faith in Narendra Modi government people of villages have appreciated the efforts of Rajasthan BJP organisation.” "Hearty congratulations to all the victorious hard-working candidates of Bhartiya Janata Party. I heartily congratulate the people of the state who posed their trust in the BJP overruling false claims of Congress government.", Vasundhara Raje, former Chief Minister said.
It is said that the party seniors concede that the raging feud between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot, who rebelled against him, is barely under the lid and is chipping away at the Congress's dominance in Rajasthan. The Congress had recently performed well in urban local body polls, electing its mayor in four out of six municipal corporations.
The results indicate that the BJP can form a board in 14 districts of Ajmer, Barmer, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittaurgarh, Churu, Jalaire, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunu, Pali, Rajsamand, Sikar, Tank and Udaipur. Compared to this, Congress will only be able to form a board in five districts of Banswara, Bhilwara, Pratapgarh, Hanumangarh, Jaisalmer.
