BJP fuelling fire of hatred, says Sonia Gandhi

Former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi launched an all-out attack on the BJP government, accusing it of "fuelling the fire of hatred" and "viciously targeting minorities, women, Dalits and tribals". She urged the Congress workers to tackle the current regime with vigour and reach out to people to convey the party's message. Addressing the party's 85th plenary session at Raipur on Saturday, Gandhi accused the government of causing economic ruin by favouring a particular businessman, making a veiled attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over a controversy involving the business empire of industrialist Gautam Adani. "It targeted minorities and ignored crimes and discrimination against them, against women, against Dalits, and against Adivasis. It mocked Gandhi ji and through its words and actions shows contempt for our values and our constitution," Ms Gandhi said.

Earlier, party president Mallikarjuna Kharge, in his address, said that Congress will face all challenges in the country. Bharat Jodo yatra was like sunshine for the nation. Thousands joined hands with Rahul Gandhi and proved that Congress is still in their hearts. Rahul inspired youth, Kharge said.

To stop this plenary session, the BJP conducted a raid on party workers' residents. They arrested our workers. But we faced them and held this session, added the Congress president.
