BJP has accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of insulting India's democracy, polity, Parliament, judicial system and strategic security through his speech in London. Briefing media in New Delhi on Tuesday, party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad alleged when people in the country are not listening to him, he goes abroad and says democracy in India is in danger. He termed Gandhi's reported remarks that America and Europe must intervene in India to restore democracy as irresponsible. He alleged that the Congress leader tried to hurt the spirit of India's consensus on the subject that no foreign country should intervene in India's internal affairs.

Prasad asked Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and senior party leader Sonia Gandhi to clarify whether they support his comments. Prasad also questioned Rahul Gandhi for criticising the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
Kanchan Gupta, senior adviser, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, said that the Congress leader’s “claims” were to cover his own “tardy performance as MP”. His attendance is way lower than Kerala average; way way lower than national average, asid Gupta.
