The 11th death anniversary of the eminent singer and Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika is being observed in the State of Assam with elaborate programmes in a befitting manner.
People in large number reached at the Samadhi of late Dr Hazarika at Jalukabari near Guwahati.
Doctor Hazarika is not only well known in this country but also abroad. A Dada Saheb Falke Award winner, late Dr Bhupen Hazarika besides being a people's singer, was also a famous film maker, lyricist , journalist, and an artist of repute.
He made some paintings also. His contribution to the Kolkata and Mumbai Film industry was notable. His music in films like Rudali , Arop and Gaja Gamini are some of the films of which the lilting tunes are still on the lips of many. A product of Indian People's Theatre Association, Dr Hazarika took to writing lyrics and singing for the upliftment of surffering humanity
He started singing from his childhood. His famous song MANUHE MANUHOR BABE' meaning "man for the help of man" ' can only rescue the sufferings of the humanity from the bondage of the corrupt ones' is widely popular .
His songs like "Burhaa Luit bowaan kiyo?" and "Ganga Behti ho kiun ?" are another two songs that people hum with extreme love and regards .Bhupen Hazarika use to draw huge crowd in whatever programmes he used to perform. His death anniversary is also being observed in Kolkata with appropriate programmes.
