Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday underscored the pivotal role of India’s youth in shaping the nation’s future, saying that young citizens will be the driving force behind the vision of a developed India, or Viksit Bharat, by 2047.
Addressing the ‘Youth for Viksit Bharat: MY Bharat Youth Convention’ at the Thyagaraj Sports Complex in New Delhi, Mandaviya said Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions a developed nation powered by the ideas, innovation and aspirations of its youth.The convention witnessed participation from over 6,000 young people from across the country, including students, entrepreneurs, innovators, young professionals, content creators and emerging leaders. Highlighting India's demographic advantage, the minister noted that nearly 65 per cent of the country's population is below the age of 35, making youth empowerment central to the nation’s long-term development strategy.

“Young Indians are making remarkable contributions across sectors, from startups and entrepreneurship to sports, public service and the creative economy,” Mandaviya said, adding that their achievements are enhancing India’s reputation on the global stage.The minister also highlighted the contribution of MY Bharat in harnessing the potential of young citizens and channelising it towards nation-building. He lauded the organisation’s recent Guinness World Record achievement and encouraged youth to actively participate in its programmes, volunteer initiatives and developmental activities.
Calling upon young people to recognise their capabilities and pursue excellence, Mandaviya said India’s future rests in the hands of its youth. He urged them to contribute towards building a competitive, confident and self-reliant nation as the country moves towards the centenary of its Independence.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who also addressed the gathering, said the country's youth possess the talent, determination and vision needed to propel India to new heights. Describing young Indians as hardworking, creative and courageous, she said every achievement by the nation’s youth strengthens India’s journey towards becoming a developed country.She also stressed the importance of discipline, perseverance and dedication in achieving success and making meaningful contributions to society.

According to information, the event featured interactive sessions with prominent personalities from diverse fields, including actor Vikrant Massey, entrepreneur Aman Gupta, cricketer Jitesh Sharma, and singer-politician Maithili Thakur.During the sessions, Massey spoke about opportunities emerging from India’s rapidly expanding creator economy, while Gupta shared insights into the country’s evolving startup ecosystem and the government's efforts to position India as a global innovation hub. Jitesh Sharma, addressing aspiring athletes, encouraged young sportspersons to pursue excellence under the theme “Play in India, Play for India”.The convention also celebrated sporting achievements by honouring distinguished athletes for their contribution to Indian sports. Youth Affairs Secretary Pallavi Jain Govil emphasised the importance of sustained youth participation in nation-building and reiterated the government's commitment to empowering future leaders.The event concluded with participants taking the Viksit Bharat Sankalp, reaffirming their commitment to contributing towards a developed, self-reliant and inclusive India by 2047. The pledge reflected the broader objective of mobilising youth participation in the country's development journey and transforming the vision of Viksit Bharat into reality.
