This is going to be an age of flux for the world, with conflicts and tariff volatility making it turbulent, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Monday, underlining that responding to the challenges emerging out of the "choppy waters" is the task at hand. "I am very confident that we will rise to the challenges," Jaishankar said during an interactive session at the 5th Kautilya Economic Conclave in New Delhi. In his remarks, the external affairs minister also referred to the Russia-Ukraine conflict that has prolonged for more than four years and efforts made by New Delhi towards the peace process. "We still keep in touch with both sides," he said. Dr Jaishankar further said the Global South expects India to articulate the region’s concerns in front of the global stage. Dr Jaishankar stated that India voices concerns of the Global South countries, including concerns relating to the four Fs – food, fuel, fertiliser and finance.

The External Affairs Minister remarked that India’s approach of multialignment enables it to engage with all important players in the world, including US, Russia and China. He termed US as one of India’s principal strategic partners, largest economic and trade account and major critical defence partner. He maintained that in this age of flux, India should confidently push ahead on every front. He opined that the world is moving towards multipolarity whose architecture and geometry are very different from the way it used to be.
