Woman alleges harassment by BJP MLA in Himachal’s Chamba district

A woman from Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district has levelled serious allegations of harassment and threats against BJP MLA Hansraj, who represents the Churah constituency. The legislator has dismissed the charges, calling them baseless and politically motivated, and described the woman as “like my daughter.”A video of the woman making the allegations surfaced on social media, in which she claimed that the MLA and his associates had been harassing her and threatening her family members. She alleged that despite having filed an FIR against the MLA last year for allegedly sending obscene messages and demanding nude pictures, no action had been taken by the authorities.In the video, the woman tearfully accused some individuals of attempting to malign her by spreading rumours that she had accepted money to make the allegations. She further claimed that she was under pressure to withdraw her complaint. “If any harm comes to my family members, I will not spare the MLA,” she said, breaking down during the video message.

The woman also alleged that the MLA’s wife had issued threats, saying he would “settle scores” once he became a minister. “He has ruined my life. I have nothing to lose now,” she said, adding that she turned to social media as she had lost faith in the police and other agencies. She also accused a doctor and a junior engineer of misbehaving with her father, alleging that no action was taken despite repeated complaints.
Responding to the allegations, MLA Hansraj released a video statement rejecting the claims. “She is like my daughter. The same allegations were made last year, and the police had conducted an inquiry and filed a closure report,” he said. Hansraj added that he was unable to understand the woman’s motive for repeating the same accusations and termed the issue a “sinister attempt to trigger communal tension” in the area.Calling the matter serious, the three-time MLA said he would file a defamation case to “get to the root of the matter.” He alleged that the charges were part of a conspiracy to tarnish his image and hinder development works in Churah constituency. “This is an attempt to stop the progress of our region and damage my reputation as an emerging leader from Chamba,” Hansraj said.Police officials have not yet issued a fresh statement on the new allegations, but sources said the matter is under review following the viral video,according to information.
