'Will meet Kharge', Himanta on Gogoi's alleged Pakistan stay

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has escalated his attack on Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, claiming that the Congress leader's children are not Indian citizens. He also raised questions about Gogoi’s alleged visit to Pakistan. Sarma on Sunday said he will meet Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and ask why the opposition party gave a ticket to MP Gaurav Gogoi, who allegedly visited Pakistan.Speaking to reporters while campaigning for the panchayat polls, the CM claimed that Gogoi's British wife Elizabeth Colburn had travelled 19 times between India and Pakistan.
Hitting back, Gogoi, the deputy leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha, dared Sarma to make public the findings of an SIT formed by the state's BJP government on the issue. Earlier, Sarma had claimed that the Congress leader's children are not Indian citizens. "I have evidence that Gaurav Gogoi's son and daughter are not Indian citizens. We are examining what he did there (Pakistan) for 15 days. There is no tourism place in Pakistan; it is only a terrorist adda,” Sarma told ANI.
"I would like to clarify that neither I nor my son and daughter have ever visited Pakistan. Furthermore, my wife and our entire family would never even think of accepting any salary or financial support from Pakistan. All members of my family, including my wife, son, and daughter, are Indian citizens. None of my children has ever surrendered or renounced Indian citizenship. Now, it is your turn to answer. In the coming days, sufficient material will be placed in the public domain exposing the connections between the concerned Congress Member of Parliament and Pakistan. Wait for 10th September 2025," the Assam CM wrote in a reply to Gogoi
