We will force Rahul Gandhi to return as party boss, says Kharge

Affter some senior leaders; resignation from thr party,Congress seems to be in a fix, Loyalists wants Rahul Gandhi to take over as the president of the party. The Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and veteran leader Mallikarjuna Khage on Saturday said that Rahul Gandhi would be pursued to return as Congress President as there is no one else in the party other than him who has a pan-India appeal.  Anyone aspiring to lead the party should be known throughout the country and enjoy support from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and West Bengal to Gujarat, he said. "We will ask him, we will force him and request him (to return as Congress president). We stand behind him. We will try to pursue him," he said. Kharge recalled that all senior leaders had "forced" Sonia Gandhi to join and work for the party, and had requested Rahul Gandhi to "come and fight".

Meanwhile, Congress  MP Manish Tewari has said that "self-introspection" is needed and that a "crack" seems to have appeared between India and Congress. Tewari said, "Two years back, 23 of us wrote to Sonia Gandhi that the party's situation is worrying and should be taken seriously. Congress lost all Assembly polls after that letter. If Congress and India thought alike, it seems either of them has started thinking differently." Tewari said, "A crack seems to have appeared in the coordination between India and Congress that existed since 1885. A self-introspection is needed. I feel that had the consensus of the meeting at Sonia Gandhi's residence on December 20, 2020 been executed, this situation wouldn't have arrived." Tewari was among the 23 top Congress leaders who wrote to party chief Sonia Gandhi two years ago, seeking organisational changes. Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Saturday took a dig at the Congress saying that the political turmoil in it was clear since a long time ago. Scindia  was also in the grand-old party before switching over to the BJP. Scindia too had cited disgruntlement with the Congress leadership – especially with Rahul Gandhi. However, the Congress had claimed that he was “expelled” for “anti-party activities”.
