In West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated, laid the foundation stone and flagged off various development projects worth more than 830 crore rupees at Hooghly district’s Singur on Sunday. Addressing a public gathering, the Prime Minister said the development of eastern India is central to the vision of a developed India, and asserted that the Union government is consistently working towards this goal. Referring to his visit to Malda a day earlier and to Hooghly, he said projects worth hundreds of crores were being implemented across West Bengal to strengthen infrastructure and connectivity. He alleged that law and order and education have deteriorated under the Trinamool government. "Under TMC’s rule, daughters are not safe, and the education system is also in the grip of mafias and corrupt elements," he said. Your vote to BJP will ensure that incidents in Sandeshkhali do not recur. Your vote will ensure that thousands of teachers don't lose their jobs again. It is important to teach a lesson to Trinamool. Every Trinamool leader now thinks he is a bigshot in Bengal," the Prime Minister said.

PM Modi flagged off three Amrit Bharat Express trains – Howrah – Anand Vihar Terminal Amrit Bharat Express; Sealdah – Banaras Amrit Bharat Express; Santragachi- Tambaram Amrit Bharat Express, and one passenger express.
Governor Dr C V Ananda Bose, Union Minister Dr Sukanta Majumdar, Shantunu Thakur, Leader of Opposition in West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari and others were present on the occasion.
