The two-day Regional Tourism Conclave in Rewa concluded on a high note on Sunday, with Madhya Pradesh positioning itself as a dynamic and promising destination for tourism and investment. The conclave, organized by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, featured three key sessions titled “From Forest Trails to Heritage Tales: The Tourism Renaissance of Rewa,” “Building Holistic Tourism Experiences in Madhya Pradesh,” and “Investment Opportunities in Tourism, Film and Hospitality in Madhya Pradesh.” These sessions saw active participation from tourism experts, industry leaders, investors, and senior officials from across India.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla emphasized the state government’s integrated efforts to develop infrastructure, preserve traditional culture, and encourage private sector participation under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. “Tourism is not just an industry; it is a key driver of economic growth, employment generation, and cultural pride,” said Shukla, highlighting the immense potential of the Vindhya region with its rich heritage, natural beauty, and spiritual depth.
Tourism as an Economic and Cultural Force
Tourism Minister Dharmendra Singh Lodhi described tourism as one of the fastest-growing sectors globally. He highlighted the launch of the PM Shri Vayu Seva scheme, which has connected remote areas of the state through air services, with heli-services to follow soon. “Our tourism policy simplifies investment approvals and promotes single-window clearances for investors,” Lodhi stated.
Principal Secretary Sheo Shekhar Shukla announced plans for a proposed tourism corridor from Maa Ganga to Maa Narmada, linking pilgrimage and tourism hubs such as Ayodhya, Varanasi, Omkareshwar, and Mahakaleshwar. “Tourism transcends borders, and Vindhya is poised to become a major connectivity hub for cultural and wellness tourism,” he said.
Dr. Ilaiyaraja T, Managing Director of MPSTDC, highlighted efforts to enhance connectivity, power infrastructure, and integrated digital booking platforms. Additional Managing Director Bidisha Mukherjee stressed sustainable and inclusive tourism models, focusing on rural homestays, women guide training, and eco-friendly infrastructure development.
Showcasing Vindhya’s Cultural Wealth
The conclave gave Vindhya’s cultural depth, spiritual legacy, and natural wealth a new identity, reaffirming Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to inclusive, responsible, and sustainable tourism development. Discussions centered on creating holistic tourism models that balance economic gains with cultural preservation and environmental care.
Industry leaders echoed this vision. Rakesh Mathur, President of the Responsible Tourism Society of India, urged for ecologically sensitive tourism. Taj Safaris’ Atul Pandey highlighted MP’s thriving wildlife tourism potential, while MakeMyTrip’s Sameer Bajaj revealed that one-third of searches on their platform pertain to Madhya Pradesh. Other experts, including hospitality consultants, influencers, and major hotel chains, lauded the state’s investor-friendly policies and cultural diversity.
Tourism Exhibition: A Cultural Showcase
An exhibition held during the conclave showcased the state’s rich craft traditions, including Dhokra from Betul, Bundeli paintings from Niwari, Date Leaf Craft from Anuppur, and Sikki art from Sidhi. Mrignayanee Emporium displayed Madhya Pradesh’s famed textiles, while leading hospitality brands and resorts presented tourism services. The exhibition served as a vibrant platform for artisans and entrepreneurs to network and collaborate.
