'Very positive': Italian Deputy PM Tajani on meeting with PM Modi

Italian Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani on Wednesday described his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as "very positive", highlighting the strong bilateral relations between India and Italy. Tajani, who is also the foreign minister, is on a three-day visit to India.During the meeting, the two leaders discussed deepening industrial collaboration and cultural exchanges while underlining India's key role in facilitating dialogue between Russia and Ukraine to achieve a peaceful resolution. "India is very important for pushing Russia towards achieving an agreement with Ukraine," Tajani said.

Earlier, Tajani met External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar in New Delhi. During the meeting, Jaishankar highlighted that the India-Italy partnership is built on democratic values and a shared commitment to a stable, secure, and prosperous world. Jaishankar underlined that both countries are moving forward with the Joint Strategic Action Plan for 2025-29. He further highlighted the joint initiative to counter the financing of terrorism, which was announced during the meeting between the Prime Ministers of both countries on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg. He underscored that the two sides look forward to discussions on political cooperation, defence, maritime security, space, culture, critical technologies, and people-to-people ties.
