Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has vowed to provide the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine to all the eligible beneficiaries in the state by September.In Madhya Pradesh, second phase of the Covid vaccination Maha-abhiyan is being organised on August 25 and 26. Through this program, a total of 35 lakh residents are likely to be get vaccinated.
According to Chouhan, 46 lakh people are getting due for the second dose of Covid vaccine in the state and if they do not get the second dose within the given time limit then the first dose will become ineffective "and our efforts to fight the disease will fail". He urged the people for their cooperation and good conduct so that the state can tackle with the third wave effectively.
Madhya Pradesh is doing well than some of the other states in its combat against Covid-19, the chief minister said. Seven, five and three new Covid-19 cases were reported in the state on August 21, 22 and 23; the count of active cases stands at 84 as on August 23. Bhopal, Indore and Singrauli districts reported one case each on Monday. This makes the total count of cases reported so far in the state to 7,92,104. A total of total 7,81,434 people have recovered, and the Covid-19 linked death toll stands at 10,516.
Over four crore people have got at least their first jab in Madhya Pradesh. However, 5,48,00,000 are still due to get their first shot. The state government wants to make sure that all the eligible state residents get their first jab done by September, before the widely anticipated third wave of infection arrives.
To make sure that the event goes smoothly, the chief minister talked with Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya and urged him for an additional dose of 11 lakh Covid-19 vaccines. Mandaviya assured Chouhan that the vaccines will be provided to the state government by August 24.
People are being invited for vaccination from door-to-door campaign by giving yellow rice. At the district level, collectors are responsible for making people aware of the upcoming maha-abhiyan and urge the masses to take part in it. Influential people are taking the help of social media to urge the masses to get vaccinated. Singer Kailash Kher urged the people to cooperate with the local administration and let them do their work.
