Congress leader V. D. Satheesan was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Keralam on Monday, marking the formal return of the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) to power in the state after a decade. The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram at 10 a.m., where the Governor administered the oath of office to Satheesan and members of his Cabinet.

The swearing-in ceremony marked a major political shift in the state following the UDF’s decisive victory in the 2026 Assembly elections. Senior Congress leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, attended the event.Along with Satheesan, ministers from the Congress and its alliance partners in the UDF were also sworn in. The Congress secured 11 seats in the Cabinet, with leaders including Ramesh Chennithala, Sunny Joseph, K. Muraleedharan, A. P. Anil Kumar, P. C. Vishnunadh, T. Siddique, Bindu Krishna, K. A. Thulasi, Roji M. John, M. Liju and O. J. Janeesh taking oath as ministers.
Five MLAs from the Indian Union Muslim League — P. K. Kunhalikutty, N. Shamsudeen, K. M. Shaji, P. K. Basheer and V. E. Abdul Gafoor — were also inducted into the Cabinet.Other coalition partners in the UDF were represented by Mons Joseph, Shibu Baby John, Anoop Jacob and C. P. John, who were sworn in as ministers.Extensive security and logistical arrangements were made in the state capital for the ceremony, which witnessed the presence of senior political leaders, party workers and supporters of the UDF alliance.
