In Uttar Pradesh, one more minster on Wednesday quit the Yogi government and one sitting Samajvadi Party and one ex-SPs MLAs and one MLA of Congress party joined the BJP. Minister of Forest and Environment in the Yogi Adityanath government Dara Sigh Chauhan. In his resignation letter he also alleged that the neglect of the backward classes and dalits by the government. "I am hurt by the government's neglectful attitude towards the backward classes, the underprivileged, the Dalits, the farmers, and the unemployed youth. At the same time, the matter of reservation of the Dalits and the backward classes is being toyed with; in view of this, I resign from the Uttar Pradesh ministry", he said. Chauhan, who is from eastern UP, joined the BJP in 2015 after quitting Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). He was a BSP MP from 2009 to 2014. When he joined the BJP, he was made the national president of the party's OBC unit. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said in a tweet that he welcomed Dara Singh Chauhan to the party. Chauhan, however, said, “The next step would be to hold discussions with my society people and then take a call for future course of action.”
Meanwhile, Congress MLA, Naresh Saini, and Samajwadi Party MLA, Hariom Yadav on Wednesday joined BJP. Former Samajwadi Party MLA Dharmpal Yadav also joined the party. They were inducted into the BJP in the presence of UP Deputy Chief Ministers Dinesh Sharma and Keshav Prasad Maurya and state BJP President Swatantra Dev Singh at party headquarters in New Delhi. The Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2022 will be held in seven phases. The polling will be held from February 10 and The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
