Ukrainian forces struck an oil terminal in the Russian Black Sea city of Tuapse, marking the fourth attack targeting the region’s oil infrastructure in just over two weeks. Local officials in Russia said a Ukrainian drone attack sparked the blaze and no casualties were reported. The facility had been hit previously on 16th, 20th and 28th of last month. Meanwhile, Russian attacks continued to strike Ukraine. The attacks have thrown up dense black clouds over the town and caused oil slicks along the coastline, ruining the beaches of the popular resort. Ukraine's SBU security service said drones had again struck the sea port and refinery that make Tuapse an important hub for Russian oil exports. They are part of what President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said was a Ukrainian strategy to disrupt Russia's huge energy industry and knock key sites out of operation for as long as possible.

Serhii Nadal, mayor of western Ukrainian city of Ternopil, stated that Russia attacked the city with over 50 drones on Friday. According to the local authorities, two multi-storey residential buildings and port infrastructure in Odesa were damaged after Russian forces launched another overnight drone attack on the southern region. As a result of the strikes, an apartment in a 16-storey building was destroyed, and the roof caught fire. In another high-rise residential building, a fire engulfed the 12th floor, according to Ukraine’s Emergency Service. In a Telegram post, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at least five people were wounded in the region.
Authorities dispatched more than a dozen boats to clean up the slick at sea, while booms have been installed on beaches to contain the spill. Emergency crews and volunteers are working to clear the stony beaches using excavators, and the oil is being collected in barrels and plastic bags.
