UAE’s port Fujairah hit second time in three days;oil ops halted

Oil loading operations at the Port of Fujairah were suspended on Monday after a drone strike triggered a fire in the emirate’s petroleum industrial zone, marking the second attack on the facility within three days.According to United Arab Emirates authorities, civil defence teams were deployed to contain the blaze and assess the impact on facilities at one of the region’s most important oil storage and export hubs.
The Fujairah Media Office said no casualties were reported in the incident.“Authorities have responded to an incident involving a drone strike that caused a fire in the petroleum industrial zone. Civil defence teams are currently working to contain the blaze,” the media office said in a statement. The precautionary suspension of oil loading operations was implemented as officials evaluated the extent of damage and ensured safety at the facility. The latest strike marks the second time in three days that the UAE’s largest port has been targeted. Operations at the port had briefly halted following an earlier attack before resuming.

Located on the eastern coast of the UAE near the Strait of Hormuz, the Port of Fujairah is one of the most strategically important energy hubs in the Middle East. The facility sits at the end of a major pipeline that connects the port directly to Abu Dhabi’s oil fields, enabling crude exports without relying on tanker routes passing through the strait.Because of its geographic position outside the narrow waterway, Fujairah has become a crucial export outlet during periods of instability in the Gulf. The port also serves as one of the world’s largest bunkering hubs, supplying fuel to thousands of commercial vessels operating in the region.
Meanwhile, reports said US fighter jets carried out strikes on military facilities on a mountain near the Chabahar Free Trade Zone in southeastern Iran. Loud explosions were reportedly heard in areas behind the zone, which is located in Sistan and Baluchestan Province near the Pakistan border.Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the reported strikes.
In a separate development, flights at Dubai International Airport were temporarily suspended earlier on Monday after a drone-related incident near the airport triggered a fire. The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority said the suspension was implemented as a safety precaution while emergency teams responded to the incident and assessed potential risks to airport operations.According to the Dubai Media Office, authorities were actively responding to the fire resulting from the drone incident. Officials later announced the gradual resumption of some flights, with services restarting in phases for selected destinations.Passengers have been advised to check directly with their respective airlines for the latest updates on flight schedules and departures before heading to the airport.
