Trump says Iran military leaders killed in Tehran strike

US President Donald Trump has claimed that several of Tehran’s top military leaders had been “terminated” in what he described as a “massive strike” on the Iranian capital. In a Truth Social post, accompanied by a one-minute seven-second video purportedly showing the explosions lighting up the sky, came amid rapidly intensifying hostilities in West Asia and mounting uncertainty over the next phase of the conflict.

Meanwhile,Iran's central military command on Saturday rejected US President Donald Trump's threat to destroy the country's vital infrastructure if it does not accept a peace deal within 48 hours. In a statement from the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, Iranian military General Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi said Trump's threat was "a helpless, nervous, unbalanced and stupid action". Echoing the religious language of Trump's social media post, he warned that "the simple meaning of this message is that the gates of hell will open for you".
This comes after Donald Trump on Saturday repeated his threats to intensify attacks on Iran if it failed to reach a deal or open the Strait of Hormuz strategic waterway. "Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or OPEN UP THE HORMUZ STRAIT. Time is running out - 48 hours before all Hell will reign (sic) down on them. Glory be to GOD!" he said in a post on Truth Social.
Israel also followed up on Trump's ultimatum. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to keep striking Iran’s heavy industry, asserting the military destroyed most of Iran’s capacity to produce the missiles it fires at Israel. “After we destroyed 70 percent of its ability to create steel, which is used as the raw material for the weapons used against us, today we attacked their petrochemical factories,” said Netanyahu in a video statement released shortly after the end of Shabbat. “These two things are their money machine, which funds their war of terror against us and against the world,” he said. “We will continue to hit them, as I promised.”
Israel and the US launched a bombing campaign on Iran on February 28 in a bid to destabilize its regime and destroy its ballistic missile and nuclear programs. Iran has responded with missile and drone strikes across the region and by effectively blockading the vital Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly 20% of the world’s oil shipments normally travel.
