US President-elect Donald Trump announced that Elon Musk will lead the 'Department of Government Efficiency' - a position Trump hinted at during his campaign trail. Musk will head the department alongside Indian-American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. "Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my Administration to dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies - Essential to the 'Save America' Movement," Trump said in a statement.
In response to the announcement, the Tesla CEO said, "This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in government waste, which is a lot of people." Ramaswamy, the Indian-American tech entrepreneur who withdrew his presidential bid earlier this year and backed Trump in the race to the White House, said, "We will not go gently."In a separate tweet, he said , "shut it down" -- a slogan he often used during his presidential campaign to call for the elimination of federal agencies.
