'Trump Missile' strikes again,Opposition asks PM to clarify

The Congress on Saturday demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi make a “clear and categorical statement” in Parliament after US President Donald Trump once again claimed that Washington played a decisive role in stopping a major conflict between India and Pakistan.
Trump, in his latest remarks, reportedly said, “We stopped a lot of wars. And these were serious, India and Pakistan, that was going on. Planes were being shot down in the air. I think five jets were shot down, actually. But India and Pakistan were going at it, and it was getting bigger and bigger, and we got it solved through trade.”He further stated that the US urged both nations that there would be no trade deal if hostilities continued. “You guys want to make a trade deal. We’re not making a trade deal if you’re going to be throwing around weapons, and maybe nuclear weapons, both very powerful nuclear states,” Trump added.Congress general secretary in charge of communications Jairam Ramesh said this is the 24th time in the last 70 days that Trump has repeated similar claims. “Just two days before the Monsoon Session begins, the Trump missile gets fired again with the same two messages — the US stopped a war between two nuclear powers, and there would be no trade deal without an immediate ceasefire,” Ramesh said.He noted that Trump’s latest statement includes a “sensational revelation” that five fighter jets may have been shot down during the escalation. “The prime minister, who has had years of friendship and huglomacy with President Trump going back to Howdy Modi in September 2019 and Namaste Trump in February 2020, must now clarify in Parliament what Trump has been claiming repeatedly,” Ramesh asserted.

The Congress has consistently called on Modi to address Trump’s “ceasefire” claims in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha during the upcoming Monsoon Session.
According to information,since May 10, when Trump first posted on social media that India and Pakistan had agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire” after a night of US-mediated talks, the American leader has reiterated this position several times. However, India has firmly denied any foreign mediation, stating that the understanding to halt hostilities was reached through direct talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries.India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. After four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes, India and Pakistan agreed on May 10 to cease hostilities.During a phone call last month,PM Modi reportedly told Trump that India does not and will never accept mediation on issues related to its sovereignty, reaffirming that the ceasefire agreement was initiated at Islamabad’s request.
