President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he had agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran, stepping back from the threat of strikes on the country's power plants and bridges. Trump announced the ceasefire on Truth Social, saying he had accepted a proposal put forward by Pakistan. The proposal calls for a two-week halt to hostilities and the immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump said the United States would use the two-week window to work towards a final agreement with Iran.A White House official cited by CNN on Tuesday that Israel also agreed to a temporary ceasefire, following recent diplomatic efforts to halt hostilities in the region.
Iran’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi has shared a statement on behalf of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council declaring that “if attacks against Iran are halted, our Powerful Armed Forces will cease their defensive operations.” “For a period of two weeks, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible via coordination with Iran’s armed forces and with due consideration to technical limitations,” Araghchi added.

He revealed that Washington had received a “10 point proposal” from Iran, describing it as a “workable basis on which to negotiate,” with most key issues already addressed.
Oil prices tumbled and US stock futures jumped on Tuesday after President Trump announced a two-week suspension of "US crude fell 8% to around $103 per barrel, while S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, and Dow futures surged," the report said.
