World No.1 archer Deepika Kumari opened India's campaign at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on Friday. She finishes 9th in the Ranking Round. That means she might have to face one of the top seeds in the quarter-final. She will in action in the Women's individual event on July 24. She shot a total of 663 in 72 arrows to finish 9th. A poor 7 in her final shot did cost her 2 spots as she was at the 7th spot before the final round began.The round was dominated by the South Korean Archers, An San - 680, Jang Minhee - 677, Chaeyoung Kang- 675 as they took the first three spots. An San broke the Games record previously held by Lina Herasymenko of Ukraine (673). Later in the day, Indian archers -- Atanu Das, Pravin Jadhav and Tarundeep Rai will be in action in the men's individual ranking round.
