TN Polls: AIADMK releases 3rd list of 17 candidates

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Sunday released its third list of 17 candidates for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Elections. The party has already announced the names of 150 candidates in the previous two lists for the 234-member assembly. In its third list, the party has fielded its nominees for the Chennai City constituencies. Party General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami named senior leader Aadhi Rajaram to contest from the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constituency while former ministers B Valarmathi and S Gokula Indira will seek their electoral prospects from Thousand Lights and Anna Nagar constituencies, respectively.

The party, which is leading the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the state, has already announced it will contest from 169 constituencies. As per the seat sharing pact, seven alliance partners have been allocated a total of 65 constituencies. Tamil Nadu is set to witness a three-way contest with the DMK-led alliance, the AIADMK-BJP combine, and actor-turned-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). In the Tamil Nadu elections in 2021, the Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA), led by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), bagged 159 seats.
