UGC-NET results announced for 84 subjects

The results of the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) for 84 subjects have been announced, with more than 4,000 candidates qualifying for the Junior Research Fellowship, the National Testing Agency said late on Friday. “Out of 6.07 lakh candidates who appeared for the exam in 84 subjects, over 97,000 have qualified for PhD admissions and over 4,000 for JRF,” a senior NTA official said. Candidates should check their result carefully and download a copy for future reference. The NTA has also released the relevant cut-offs and qualification details along with the results. The UGC-NET score determines whether a candidate has qualified under the applicable category, including JRF, Assistant Professor or PhD admission, subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) had ordered fresh examinations for candidates who appeared for the English, Commerce and Sociology papers in June this year after an expert committee found factual, typographical, translation and language-related errors in the question papers. The June examination was originally conducted for 87 subjects. However, the NTA decided to hold a fresh examination for three papers — English, Commerce and Sociology. Candidates who appeared for these three subjects will therefore not find their final results in the current declaration. The re-examination for the three subjects is scheduled for September 9 and 10. Their results will be announced separately after the fresh examination is completed.
