Three killed in Mount Dukono volcanic eruption in Indonesia

In Indonesia, three people were killed after Mount Dukono volcano erupted Saturday morning. Rescuers have found all the survivors from a group of 20 hikers who went missing after the eruption. According to the police, fifteen people have been taken to hospital to treat their injuries. Officials say the group was hiking up the volcano despite a climbing ban. 

The Volcanological Survey of Indonesia said, Mount Dukono erupted at 07:41 local time, sending a 10km column of ash into the sky. Dukono is among Indonesia’s most active volcanoes and is popular among hikers and tourists. Authorities warned nearby residents to stay alert and avoid areas close to the crater due to possible ashfall and volcanic activity. Officials continue to monitor the situation for further activity.
