The Ministry of National Defense said in a statement that, Last night, in response to repeated violations of Afghanistan’s sovereignty and an airstrike on Afghan territory by the Pakistani military, the armed forces of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan carried out retaliatory operations against Pakistani security positions along the Durand Line. The statement described the operations as successful, adding that they concluded it at 12 A.M. As per information, the Afghan forces have captured several outposts from Pakistani forces during ongoing clashes. According to the sources, one outpost each has also been destroyed across the Durand Line in Kunar and Helmand provinces. Sources told TOLOnews that clashes are also ongoing in Zazi Maidan district of Khost province. The operation took place after Pakistan repeatedly violated Afghanistan’s sovereignty.
Sources told TOLOnews that at least 12 Pakistani soldiers were killed, and several others injured in the ongoing border clashes. Intense fighting has been reported in Bahramcha district’s Shakij, Bibi Jani, and Salehan areas, as well as across Paktia’s Aryub Zazi district. Enayatullah Khowarazmi, spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defense, described the operation as a retaliatory measure in response to Pakistan’s violation of Afghan airspace."If the opposing side again violates Afghanistan's airspace, our armed forces are prepared to defend their airspace and will deliver a strong response," Khowarazmi added.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have urged both sides to adopt the language of dialogue and diplomacy.The statement added that Saudi Arabia supports all regional and international efforts aimed at establishing peace and stability and consistently works to help ensure security for the prosperity and development of both the Pakistani and Afghan sides.
