In Maharashtra, Shiromani Akali Dal chief and former Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal was attacked by a Nihang with a sharp weapon inside a gurdwara in the Mata Sahib Kaur area of Nanded on Thursday.The incident took place around 11 am, shortly after Badal arrived in Nanded from Punjab. He was on a personal visit and had been provided security as per the scheduled security arrangements.Badal sustained injuries to his hand and has been taken to Yashosai Hospital where he is undergoing treatment and is stated to be out of danger.

According to sources, the attacker attempted to stab Sukhbir Badal in stomach, but the security personnel intervened and tried to stopped him. The attacker was detained by police shortly after the incident. Police are questioning the attacker and conducting further investigation into the incident. Inspector Santosh Kendre, who was deployed in special security, was also attacked and injured, Earlier in the day, Badal had visited Takht Sri Hazur Sahib in Nanded along with his wife, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, who is a Shiromani Akali Dal MP.
