Senior party leader Digvijiaya Singh emphasised that the Congress party is nothing without the Nehru-Gandhi family. Digvijaya Singh said, “There have been divisions within this party several times, but 99 per cent of Congressmen have supported the family that has served the nation before and after Independence. Singh met Shashi Tharoor, who said they agreed that theirs is "not a battle between rivals but a friendly contest" among colleagues.Digvijaya Singh said, “We are both Gandhian-Nehruvian ideologists. We have one ideology. We are contesting the election but we both will fight to strengthen Congress.”
