ICT company Sify Technologies is set to inaugurate a new data centre facility in Karnataka shortly, while Bharti Enterprises has also expressed interest in setting up a data centre in the state, Karnataka’s Minister for Large and Medium Industries M B Patil said.Speaking on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Patil said he held a series of high-level meetings with global corporations, technology firms and academic institutions, showcasing Karnataka’s strong execution capabilities, robust talent pool and investor-friendly ecosystem.
“Sify Technologies is set to inaugurate a new facility shortly,” the minister said, adding that Rajan Bharti Mittal, Vice Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, conveyed interest in establishing a data centre in Karnataka.As part of his engagements at Davos, Patil also held discussions with Mistral AI, a fast-growing French artificial intelligence company, which is exploring the possibility of setting up a Global Capability Centre (GCC) or a research and development centre in Bengaluru.

The Karnataka delegation further met Jacob Aarup-Andersen, Chief Executive Officer of Denmark-headquartered Carlsberg Group, to explore potential collaboration opportunities. In addition, Patil held talks with representatives from Imperial College London, Philip Morris International (PMI), PayPal Holdings Inc., and Bharat Forge Limited, covering areas ranging from technology and innovation to manufacturing and advanced engineering.In a key development, the Swiss Indian Chamber of Commerce (SICC) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Karnataka at Davos. The agreement establishes a framework to strengthen Swiss industry participation and investment engagement with Karnataka under the India–EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA).The MoU was signed by Industries Minister M B Patil on behalf of the Karnataka government and Satish Rao, President of the Swiss Indian Chamber of Commerce.
