The opposition parties in Pakistan on Sunday nominated Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz as their joint candidate for the prime minister’s election. The PML-N leader's nomination comes a day after Imran Khan was removed from the post of prime minister after losing the no-confidence vote in the 342-member Pakistan assembly. Shehbaz Sharif, the 70-year-old younger brother of former three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif. The chief of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) party, Sharif, has been leading the Opposition’s efforts to topple Imran Khan’s government and has consistently been identified as the Opposition’s sole candidate for the post of prime minister.
"According to rumours, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is likely to be appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs,” GeoNews report said. Shehbaaz has served as the chief minister of Punjab province thrice. While Bilawal Bhutto is the son of former premier Benazir Bhutto and ex-Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari. During the debate in the National Assembly on Saturday, Bilawal had trained his guns on Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the incumbent foreign minister, and questioned why he was not present for the National Security Committee meeting which discussed the so-called "foriegn conspiracy" to oust the PTI government. Bilawal said that if there was a conspiracy against the government, Khan should have taken action immediately. He maintained that the current battle was not between the PTI, the PPP or the PDM, rather between those who upheld the Constitution and those who disregarded it.After he was nominated by the opposition, Sharif tweeted, special thanks to all.

Sharif will be elected unopposed in case no other candidate submits nomination against him. The National Assembly will reconvene on Monday to nominate the next PM.
