The domestic share market ended with modest gains on Monday, led by value buying in select counters and a recovery in oil-sensitive stocks following a decline in crude prices. However, persistent geopolitical tensions capped the gains. At close, the Sensex was up 564.03 points or 0.76% to 74,858.99,while the Nifty added 67.90 points or 0.29% to 23,414.30.
Patanjali Foods, Mankind Pharma, Kaynes Tech, Solar Ind,LIC Housing Fin, were the top gainers on the Nifty,while losers included Oracle Fin Serv,UNO Minda,APL Apollo,KFin Tech, Container Corp.On the sectoral front, pharma, realty and FMCG stocks advanced, while metal, IT and PSU bank stocks declined.In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index shed 0.02% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index rose 0.09%.
Rupee Close:
On 21 Sep'26,the Indian rupee appreciated 15 paise to close at 95.81 (provisional) against the U.S. dollar on Monday as crude oil prices retreated from their elevated levels on improved global risk sentiment amid expectations of diplomatic talks between the U.S. and Iran.Forex traders said the Indian rupee firmed on weak crude oil prices amid hopes of diplomatic talks between the U.S. and Iran. Moreover, positive domestic markets and softening of U.S. Treasury yields also supported the local unit.
