Sensex extends record run ,climbs 372 pts, Nifty ends above 21,750

The domestic equity market indices hit fresh all-time highs on Thursday ahead of the monthly F&O expiry amid firm cues from the global markets.At close, the Sensex was up 371.95 points or 0.52 percent at 72,410.38, and the Nifty was up 123.95 points or 0.57 percent at 21,778.70.
Stocks and Sectors
Coal India, NTPC, M&M, Dr Reddy's Laboratories and Hero MotoCorp were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Adani Enterprises, Eicher Motors, LTIMindtree, L&T and Adani Ports.
On the sectoral front,except Information Technology all other indices ended in the green with FMCG, realty, oil & gas, power and metal indices up 1-2 percent.BSE Midcap index was up 0.66 percent and smallcap index rose 0.2 percent.
On 28 Dec'23,the Indian  rupee appreciated 8 paise to close at 83.26 against the US dollar on Thursday, tracking a weak American currency against major overseas rivals and positive cues from domestic equity markets.
According to forex traders, the Indian currency strengthened on the back of massive equity buying by Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs). However, volatility in crude oil prices resisted a sharp gain in the Indian currency.
Experts Take:
Market experts have recommended six stocks to buy for Thursday- Zydus Wellness, Pidilite Industries, SBI, Nykaa, Bank of Baroda and JK Paper.
