Actor-Producer Arushi Nishank talks about dealing with negativity and body-shaming on social media

Actor-Producer Arushi Nishank has always been someone who's been recognised and known as the ideal representation of 'beauty with brains'. Be it with the choices that she makes as an actress or the choices that she backs as a Producer, she always backs her instincts, goes by her gut feeling and in the process, more often than not, she achieves tremendous success. Apart from being a successful personality in her field of art and craft, another reason why she's immensely respected and rated highly is because of her vocal nature. In an industry where many professionals take a backseat from speaking their heart out on relevant and important subjects involving the society, Arushi Nishank is someone who's always very vocal and outspoken and it is this personality trait of her's that wins hearts.
In the past as well, she's spoken about different issues and this time, ahead of Women's Day, Arushi talks about the very important and relevant subject of mental health and body-shaming and how the two are interconnected. On being asked to speak more about the same, Arushi shares her knowledgeable insights and we quote,
"The world of social media has its own pros and cons. As far as women are concerned, one thing that women go through on a daily basis is body-shaming and getting slut-shamed for their choice of outfits. If someone is underweight and skinny, they are shamed and if someone is obese, they are also shamed. While we are very quick to pass judgements about someone and how they look, what these people don't understand is that sometimes it's a forced thing and not out of choice. A skinny person perhaps wants to gain weight but there are other medical complications associated due to which she's not being successful. Same with the obese. And the number of women who get shamed for their choice of outfits is uncountable. All this puts an element of self-doubt in these women and they start to think something is wrong with them. As Women's Day approaches, my message is loud and clear to these women. All I would like to say is that please filter what is necessary information and what isn't. Nobody in this world has got the right or power to decide how you should feel about yourself. Women empowerment according to me is not just about doing a job independently or wearing clothes of your choice. True women empowerment happens when you don't let all these trivial people from society decide your own worth and you feel confident in your skin the way you are. Change things about yourself only when you feel you should, not when others dictate you to. That according to me is true women empowerment and hence, please don't let such trivial things affect your mental health. You all are made for a lot better. Shine and fly and always be the phoenix that you are."
As far as upcoming work is concerned, the talented artist is all set to win hearts with her upcoming project 'Tarini'. On being asked more about the same, Arushi shares,-“Well, as far as Tarini is concerned, its a historic event that happened in 2015. We have been working on this project for a few years now and have taken exclusive rights from the Ministry of Defence to make this film. This was the very first time when six women naval officers completed a circumnavigation in a small Made in India boat alone in 254 days. The story is full of adventure, emotion and humour. A lot of hard work and efforts have been put forward for this and I am really looking forward to the same. Stay tuned.”
Well, absolutely brilliant words from Arushi and such insightful thoughts can only arise from such a mind who's herself so intellectual and street-smart. Kudos to her for inspiring women towards the right direction ahead of Women's Day. As far as our memory is concerned, the only other lady in the past who’s always been so vocal and inspiring when it comes to women empowerment is Priyanka Chopra and now, Arushi Nishank is certainly carrying forward the legacy in this space brilliantly. Here's wishing her good luck and success for Tarini and everything that she does going forward. Stay tuned for more updates.

It was quite challenging to film a love-making scene with a girl: Ramnitu Chaudhary

Ramnitu will soon be seen in the second season of Altt Balaji’s “Honey Trap Squad”. The young actress who has been a part of South films like Mr. Painter, Dhanush, Rajkumari has never done any bold scenes in her career so far and found it challenging to film a love-making scene in the show. Though she was not comfortable initially, her co-star helped her through. She said, “I have never done anything bold in my life before and this was for the first time I was doing a love making scene and that too with a girl. It was quite challenging to film a love-making scene with a girl and I was not very comfortable with it in the beginning but I had a lovely co-star and she helped me alot and made me comfortable and she said that we are just actors and you don't have to think much. And when I saw the scene afterwards, it came out so well and it was all because of her. I would say that I kissed a girl, and I liked it.”
She is in love with her character and shared that she was able to relate to her easily. “I love my character. The best thing I liked about her is that she is very enthusiastic. She is a fighter and a headstrong girl. She can solve any problem that comes her way, and she does not rely on anyone,” she said.“I can really relate to her because I believe that we should always be ready to take on challenges in life and fight for ourselves. We shouldn’t trust anyone easily and have the gut feeling that you can do anything,” she added.
The series is a thriller and she was excited to be a part of it. She said, “Thrillers are always good and when you can give a thrill to people and they get excited about what is going to happen next it's always good.” Sharing her experience of working with her co-stars and the producer Santosh Gupta, she said, “I had a wonderful team to work with. All the co-stars were so nice and so cooperative, and it was fun shooting with them, I had a great time shooting with the whole crew. Santosh ji is a gem of a person, he is a wonderful and a cooperative person and he takes care of artistes so well that one should learn from him.”
Ramnitu is happy with how her career is going but would love to explore other platforms and genres. “It has to be something different from the work that I have done in the past. It should be challenging, it should be everything. I want to do all kinds of characters I don't want to bound myself with something particular but everything,” she ended.

Kanchi Singh: OTT has given actors a chance to do more work

Kanchi Singh known for her roles in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Aur Pyar Ho gaya and is making OTT debut this year. She is very excited about her project and asserts that OTT has given actors more opportunities and choices. Sharing her thoughts on how OTT has become the go-to entertainment platform for viewers, she said, “OTT has given actors a chance to do more work. We have more options, more work in the OTT space.”
“Shooting for the Web is finite, unlike daily soaps. Daily soaps are a daily grind, whereas OTT shoots give you a bound script and pace. TV, OTT, and films are different experiences and can't be compared. OTT has revolutionized the scenario, and the lockdown worked in its favor. OTT and binge watching are not just habits but addictions for film and content lovers. On the press of a button, we are seeing content featuring good actors from Bollywood, theater, and even TV,” she added.
Kanchi took a break from TV to focus on her Bollywood journey, and spoke about one of the most debatable issues of nepotism in the entertainment industry, emphasizing that it’s not just Bollywood where it happens. She said, “Nepotism and favoritism exist in all fields, not just Bollywood. On TV, it also exists. People want to work with certain people and repeat them too. The nepotism and favoritism issue is blown out of proportion. At the end of the day, talent and luck also count. I am sincere in my work and towards my craft of acting.” What next? “I am in talks for more films, two projects are already ready for release,” she ended.

Aamir Dalvi talks about playing Satya in Invictus T Mediaworks

Be it his dialogue delivery or character sketch, actor Aamir Dalvi loves playing the role of Satya in Dabangii Mulgi Aayi re Aayi. The Invictus T Mediaworks’ show has undergone a time leap and has a new star cast reprising the roles.“My character is completely different from how I am. I love the way he talks, and speaks, and I think these qualities strongly register with the audience. Honestly, the role of Satya is firstly, so powerful. The different kinds of shades and levels attached to it were what attracted me,” he says.
He adds, “However, it is pretty challenging, I would say. The scripts are written in a certain way with a certain dialect. Satya delivers his lines in such a different way. That is challenging, but it is fun as well. If I was the audience, what attracted me was first that they said the accent of Satya. Now he's got a certain edge about himself. He addresses and carries himself in front of people, and interpersonal relationships with the wife, brother, mother, sister and so forth, are what would attract me as an audience for Satya.”
Meanwhile, working with a good team has always worked for the actor. “I try to be my best, give my 210%, and be as focused as I can. All my co-stars, in all the shows that I have done, have been incredible. They've always got a new flavor, a new dimension to the characters they play. They've shown me new ways of looking at my character as well. And that has always been a learning experience for me.” Post leap, the actor says that the pressure is way up. “In this show, certainly validation is required post-leap. The cast is new, and it would be a big challenge to make a place in people’s hearts. It’s like when you start a new show,” he says.
He adds that working with producers Nilanjana Purkayasstha and Herumb Khot is a pleasure. “Nilanjana and Herumb are the first television producers who went out and asked me if I had an entourage. I think nobody in the industry has ever asked me in these 24-25 years of my acting span. It was the first note that we started on, and they were very welcoming. I would like to work with them in the future. Personally, both of them are lovely human beings and great producers, and content creators. Not just the actors, but they care about every person who is on their team, right from the captain of the team, from the director to the last spot boy or the smallest runner, who's available to send things across from one set to the office and so forth,” he says.
