In Maharashtra, Metropolitan Magistrate Mazgaon convicts Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut in the defamation case on a complaint filed by Dr. Medha Kirit Somaiya, wife of BJP leader Kirit Somaiya. He has been sentenced to 15 days in jail. The metropolitan magistrate in Mumbai's Mazgaon has also fined Raut Rs 25,000 said Vivekanand Gupta, advocate for Dr. Medha Kirit Somaiya.

Medha Somaiya had filed a petition against Raut, accusing him of making baseless and defamatory allegations that she and her husband were involved in a Rs 100 crore scam related to the construction and maintenance of public toilets in Mira Bhayandar.Raut made these allegations in an article published by the party's official Marathi newspaper Saamna.
