Mumbai police on Sunday said a 30-year-old man who stabbed Saif Ali Khan at the actor’s residence here has been arrested. Preliminary investigation suggests that the man had entered actor's home with an intention of theft, a senior police official told reporters. Saif Ali Khan's attacker, who was arrested from adjoining Thane, is a Bangladeshi, who had changed his name Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad to Bijoy Das after entering India, the official said. He was arrested in a joint operation conducted by DCP Zone-6 Navnath Dhavale's team and the Kasarvadavali police at a labour camp near the metro construction site, behind the TCS Call Center in Hiranandani Estate, Thane (W).The attacker, identified as Mohammad Alian alias BJ, confessed to entering the actor's house and committing the crime. The attacker, who kept his name as 'Vijay Das', worked at a pub in Mumbai. He was arrested at a labour camp near a metro construction site at Hiranandani Estate in Thane. Vile Parle police station officials had made a breakthrough in making the arrest.Police are also investigating whether the attacker is an Indian or a Bangladeshi national by having a fake Indian identity.

Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by a man during a burglary bid at the actor's Bandra West home in the wee hours of Thursday. The 54-year-old actor suffered multiple stab injuries, including on his neck and near the spine, in the attack at his house. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in an autorickshaw, where he underwent emergency surgery and is out of danger.
