Gwalior Tourism Conclave highlights MP’s culture, investment

The historic city of Gwalior played host to a two-day Regional Tourism Conclave on August 29–30, 2025, showcasing the state’s cultural wealth while charting a roadmap for global tourism investments. Organized by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board at the Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Agricultural University, the conclave brought together political leaders, investors, cultural icons, and industry experts under the theme “Timeless Gwalior: Echoes of Culture, Spirit of Legacy.”
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, inaugurating the event, emphasized tourism’s role in economic and cultural growth. “Tourism is not only about attracting visitors but also about preserving our legacy for future generations. Gwalior and the Chambal-Sagar regions have immense potential to emerge as global destinations blending heritage with modern experiences,” he said.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia highlighted the focus on infrastructure and connectivity. “For Gwalior to compete globally, we must create world-class facilities. The upcoming modernization of Gwalior Airport and the railway station will make this region a key gateway for international travelers,” he noted. The conclave was attended by Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, Tourism Minister Dharmendra Singh Lodhi, and senior officials of the state government. Renowned actors Piyush Mishra and Faisal Malik were also present, participating in interactive sessions that connected culture with tourism aspirations.
The event witnessed signing of multiple MoUs and Letters of Award (LoAs) aimed at boosting hospitality, eco-tourism, and cultural initiatives. A key agreement with Maharaja Mansingh Tomar Music University was finalized to preserve and promote Gwalior’s famed folk and classical music traditions. New initiatives, including an experiential tourism project under Swadesh Darshan 2.0 at Phool Bagh and a CSR-backed conservation and illumination plan for the Gwalior Fort, were also unveiled.Panel discussions explored opportunities in luxury tourism, destination weddings, and immersive cultural travel, while cultural performances highlighted the region’s artistic richness. The conclave underscored Madhya Pradesh’s strategy of fostering public-private partnerships to drive tourism-led growth. With a clear vision to blend heritage conservation with modern infrastructure, the event marked a significant step toward positioning Gwalior-Chambal and Sagar as global tourism hotspots.
