Police Commemoration Day is being observed across the country. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday lays a wreath at National Police Memorial in New Delhi on Police Commemoration Day. Later, addressing the gathering, Rajnath Singh said,Red Corridors, once affected by Naxalism, are now turning into growth corridors. The Defence Minister exuded confidence that the left-wing extremism will be eradicated by next year. He lauded the collaborative work of police, CRPF, BSF, all paramilitary forces, and local administration in eradicating Naxalism.

He said, "It's a matter of great regret that for a long time, we, as a society and as a nation, didn't fully recognise the contributions of the police. We didn't make the positive efforts that should have been made to keep their memories alive."
