The Royal Challengers Bengaluru defended 190 against Punjab Kings to give the team its maiden IPL title win after 18 long years. The chiselled, sweat-glistened face of Virat Kohli was filled with impatience. The maiden IPL title for him and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru was a good over away. He was desperate for that famous Kohli run — fingers pointed heavenwards with a wide grin plastered across the face. 11.25 pm: Josh Hazlewood successfully defended 29 runs in the 20th over. But all Kohli could do was to hide his face in his palms with tear-filled eyes and baulk. Teammates soon enveloped him as their endearing No. 18 met his destiny after 18 years. Was it the credit-rolling moment of an extraordinary relationship between a player and franchise that lasted 18 years through mind boggling highs and heartbreaking lows?
Tears. Roars. Jubilation

The Rajat Patidar-led side, that has cricketing icon Virat Kohli, ended its 18-year long wait for a maiden IPL trophy. Opting to bowl first, PBKS restricted RCB to 190 for 9, with Arshdeep Singh (3 for 40) and Kyle Jamieson (3 for 48) being the major contributors. Virat Kohli was top-scorer for RCB with 43 off 35. RCB never got going in the innings and kept losing wickets at regular intervals.
The moment Josh Hazlewood finished delivering the final ball of the match, Bengaluru turned into a sea of roaring red, multi-coloured crackers illuminated the night skyline and fans stormed the streets chanting "RCB and Kohli".Till Tuesday night, the delirium Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad or Jaipur went through after a title triumph had eluded the streets of Bengaluru despite fielding star-studded teams in the past. But June 3, they experienced that special feeling and they made it a special occasion too.
Probably Bengaluru has never burst these many crackers in a single night, No Diwali has ever come close to this!!
