Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra has finally aggreed to convene an assembly session from August 14. A notice from Governor Kalraj Mishra's office said on Wednesday evening after days of back-and-forth on the matter between him and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. This could possibly be the first sign of an end to the political deadlock in Rajasthan.In a fresh revised proposal, the Ashok Gehlot cabinet sought the assembly session from August 14. Sources said the Chief Minister -- who has repeatedly insisted that he has the numbers -- decided to ask for a session exactly 21 days from when the first request was made.
The Rajasthan crisis has seen an open tussle between Gehlot, who claims to have a majority in the house, and his now-dismissed deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot and a set of rebel Congress legislators, who allege that Gehlot’s government is in a minority.
