Priyanka Chopra’s ‘Mandakini’ avatar revealed in 'Varanasi'

Filmmaker S S Rajamouli shared the first look poster of Priyanka Chopra from his film "Varanasi" on the actor's 44th birthday. Director Rajamauli introducing fans to her character, Mandakini. Also featuring Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film is slated to release on April 7, 2027 and revolves around a community in 512 AD who possess an ancient secret that can save the world. The newly released poster presents Priyanka in a striking transformation. She appears in a dark, battle-inspired outfit featuring a high-neck corset design, while her dramatic hairstyle and intense expression add to the commanding presence of the character. A fiery backdrop further amplifies the mysterious aura surrounding Mandakini.
In 2027 AD, an asteroid named Shambhavi collides with Earth, causing a cataclysmic event. Meanwhile, a greedy scientist, Kumbha (Prithviraj), becomes paralysed while trying to retrieve the artefact.Varanasi marks Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ first collaboration with filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli. The film was initially referred to as GlobeTrotter before its official title was revealed at a grand event at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad last year.

Rajamouli also spoke about shooting the project in the IMAX format, explaining that the film’s visually ambitious sequences were conceived for large-format presentation from the beginning. He noted that only minor adjustments were required while framing scenes to ensure they looked equally impressive in both IMAX and CinemaScope formats.
