Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday said democracy is dead and the country is under a dictatorship. Addressing a press conference at the All India Congress Committee headquarters in Delhi, he said that we are witnessing the death of democracy. What India has built brick by brick, starting almost a century ago, is being destroyed in front of your eyes. Anybody who stands against this idea of onset of dictatorship is viciously attacked, jailed, arrested and beaten up. The manner in which the Narendra Modi government has set loose every central agency against opposition leaders show India is seeing the "onset of dictatorship", he alleged. Gandhi said that the finance minister has “absolutely no understanding” of the prevailing economic situation in the country.
I don't think the FM has any understanding of what is going on in the economy of India. She's there as a mouthpiece.

If she has understood, we would have not been in the situation we're in.

The BJP hit back, asking if there is "democracy" in the Congress, which has been labelled as a "dynastic party", and alluding to the opposition party not having a non-Gandhi chief for a long while now. BJP senior leader Ravi Shankar Prasad , while adressing the press onference in Delhi on Frida, said the Congress was not protesting to save democracy, but to save Mr Gandhi's properties worth R 2,000 crore. Rahul Gandhi should lett the people why he is on bail in National Helrad case.
